In mid-song during an acoustic set, he beckoned to his roadie, who attempted to slip a harmonica and its holder over his fedora. More often than not, Keb’ finds rays of sunshine in a cloudy world ( The Medicine Man, Life is Beautiful, Marvelous to Me).Īnd he makes it all look so damned effortless. He teases humor from poverty ( Government Cheese), deftly unpacks life’s baggage ( Suitcase), and revs up some good old-fashioned take me back, baby! nostalgia ( ’62 Chevy). With a voice that envelopes you like a comfy sweater, he can gently remind you that we’re all immigrants ( This Is My Home). He can take you to the Delta like Robert Johnson-reincarnate.
This is a man who can rock, and roll, and twang with the best of ’em back in his adopted Nashville.
